Developers Conference 2005

deCarta is pleased to host its Developers Conference on Monday, September 26, 2005, at SBC Park in San Francisco. This one-day event will feature presentations from deCarta Developer Zone partners, new product announcements, workshops, a networking reception and more. It.s sure to make a splash with developers interested in taking advantage of deCarta tools to create their own applications in the location-based services industry.

Why attend?
The Location Based Services (LBS) industry is undergoing a profound transformation in 2005. A new generation of mapping applications is changing the way we think about maps and location on the Internet. Some of the largest wireless carriers in the world are deploying new location-aware handsets with improved application capabilities across their entire network. Higher accuracy map data is being made available for more parts of the world than ever, and new types of data such as traffic and photographic points of interest are now available.

As a leading provider of geospatial software solutions to the industry, deCarta is at the center this transformation. This conference is a unique opportunity to get first hand knowledge from the technologists and experts that are bringing those new capabilities to market. Attendees will meet key members of deCarta's development team and partners and have a chance to interact directly with the architects and designers of the leading LBS products, services and applications.

Key Takeaways
Attendees will hear about these topics and more:

  • Maps as the new user experience: using location and proximity to present information in a new way, making different associations and correlation to increase effectiveness of search and decision-making
  • Behind the location APIs: demystifying how location is determined in mobile networks
  • Techniques to integrate new, volatile location-oriented data
  • Improved route guidance and turn-by-turn applications on mobile telephones
  • What you should know before taking your application internationally

For developers who are new to LBS applications or deCarta's technology, a series of sessions will provide a crash course on developing LBS applications using deCarta's powerful new web services API.

Attendees will also be able to share views and experiences with other deCarta customers, partners and developers in all segments (Internet, wireless and telematics) from around the world.

Format
This one-day event will feature a mix of short presentations, panel discussions, in-depth technical topics and forward-looking exposés on the trends in technology and market dynamics for location-based services. For part of the day, attendees will choose between introductory concepts and tutorials on deCarta's newest products and features, or more advanced topics on some of the most pressing issues facing LBS application developers today.

The conference will end in a fun and relaxed atmosphere with an evening reception and mixer event right by SBC Park's baseball field and the San Francisco Giants dugout. Guests and attendees will have access to the batting cages where they will be able to swing for the fences like the pros.
